L A Simpson are an independent firm of Chartered Surveyors and RICS Registered Valuers, providing a comprehensive range of surveying services tailored to meet the distinct needs of Shetland’s construction and property sectors. We take pride in being the only chartered and fully qualified valuation surveyors in Shetland.
Established in 2020, we are based in our strategically located office at 4a North Ness Business Park, situated near the centre of Lerwick, the primary town and port of Shetland.
We are regulated by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and are subject to continual review under the RICS operated Valuers Registration Scheme (VRS) which is designed to maintain the highest standards of property valuation.
We pride ourselves on our customer care and the close working relationships we have developed with our clients, leading to repeat business and referrals from some of Shetland’s largest property proprietors & developers, such as Shetland Islands Council, Hjaltland Housing Assistance, NHS Shetland, Shetland Amenity Trust and E&H Building Contractors Ltd.
In the three years since our inception, we’ve been entrusted with conducting over 70% of all home reports and valuations for residential property sales. This dominant market share stands as a testament to our firm’s professionalism, reliability, and unrivalled knowledge of Shetland’s property sector.
Our commitment to our profession has not only earned us the trust of the community but also positioned us as a member firm of First Surveyors Scotland – a national valuation and property consultancy service.
The firm was founded by Lowrie Simpson FRICS. A Chartered Quantity Surveyor, Registered Valuer and Accredited Domestic Energy & Retrofit Assessor, Lowrie has over 15 years experience in the local construction and property sectors.
Lowrie’s contribution to the profession was recognised when he was shortlisted as a finalist in the Valuation category at the RICS Matrics Surveyor of the Year Awards 2021, and elected a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in 2022, the highest class of membership awarded within the profession.
